Week 2 Results!
This week I went back into the lab and removed 3 more samples to super glue fume for results.
The samples in the hot and cold climates still had very visible prints after two weeks of exposure. There were more than 12 visible minutiae and a forensics team could still use the prints as evidence to link a suspect. The wet sample, however, did not have 12 visible minutiae after fuming. It is possible that with further development using print powders or other techniques that at least 12 would have been visible, but I just did not have access to the additional technology to further expose the prints.
I have two more slides to read from over the next couple of weeks and I look forward to seeing if the hot and cold latent prints stay as visible as they have been so far.
